Pedagogical guidelines

Student exchanges are quite often in our schools. That has been the starting point of our webquest. The final production will be a  travel guide that can be used as a tool to learn and know our country.

The process of the work in this WQ can be made only in one language, although, in fact, the process gains its global meaning if the students do all the activities arisen in the other webquests, because the three ones we present here (in Basque, Spanish, and English) are part of a material prepared to work together in the Program of an Integrated Treatment of Languages.

The chosen genre for the creation of these WQ has been the expository (expositive) in the case of Spanish and English and the narrative (writing of biographies) in the case of Basque.

The final production, the complete guide with all its chapters, should be modified depending on the coming students' mother tongue as long as we can use it as authentic material (translation into English, French ...)

Our main aim is to produce a common material that can be worked with in the different subject in a coordinated way so as that we can make profitable the students' learning and susceptible of modification depending on the students involved.

All the teachers involved in the project must coordinate their work, set the timing and the way to face the activities in the different processes and choose who will be the person in charge of giving it a final layout.

In the Spanish classes the students will prepare the programme of the visits to the different places in the Basque Country. They will work the expository text of descriptive nature.

In the English classes the students will create the part related to useful information, addresses, timetables. So, the texts will be expository of instructions.

In the Basque classes they will write biographies of famous people (sportsmen and sportswomen, writers, artists ...) and then, they will work the narrative genre with an objective nature.

Timing: from five to seven lessons
